Join us for one or many of our 2019 Volunteer Stewardship Days at Badger! These work days are a chance to get outdoors, learn something about the natural heritage of the Sauk Prairie, have some fun and make a real difference for the future of our prairie landscape.
All Badger Volunteer Stewardship Days are held on the 2nd Saturday of each month, March through November, with the exception of July (no work day). The typical work day schedule runs from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Dates are:
March 9 [NOTE: If considerable snow remains on the ground, there will be no work day. DNR does not maintain the roads at Badger through the winter, so it may be difficult to access our work site.]
Meet at 8:45am at the parking lot next to the Badger Museum (on Hwy 12 ca. 4 miles north of Sauk City, east side of highway across from Citgo gas station). Most of our volunteer effort is focused on the “Hillside Prairie” on state land within Badger, and we are restoring the prairie/savanna complex by removing invasive species (shrubs & weeds).
Wear layers of clothing appropriate for the weather, long pants, durable shoes or boots, work gloves if you have them and a hat. We’ll provide gloves, hand tools and refreshments.
