Great Programs Kick off 2018!
The Alliance continues its very popular monthly public program series, “We Are Sauk Prairie,” in 2018, thanks to a generous grant from Alliant Energy Foundation. All programs will be at the Ruth Culver Library, 540 Water Street, Prairie du Sac, starting at 6:30pm. All programs are free and open to the public. Here’s a quick synopsis:
Thursday, January 18: “The River that Flows Uphill: Geologic Evolution of the Lower Wisconsin River” by Dr. Eric Carson, Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey & UW-Extension.
Thursday, February 15: “Maa Wakacak, Sacred Earth (former Badger Army Ammunitions Plant): The Return, the Healing, the Future” by Jon Greendeer (Mąąšųsga), Executive Director of Heritage Preservation for the Ho-Chunk Nation.
Thursday, March 15: ALLIANCE ANNUAL MEETING & “As Badger Changes: Trends in Habitats and Birds, 1998-2017 and Beyond” by Mike Mossman, retired DNR biologist and Ecologist/Historian, Sauk Prairie Conservation Alliance
Thursday, April 19: “Dwindling numbers for the iconic Monarch Butterfly: A conservation biologist ponders moving beyond the documentation of declines” by Dr. Karen Oberhauser, Director, University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum
Thursday, May 17: Alliance 20th Anniversary Celebration! Vintage Brewing Company, Water Street, Sauk City, 6:00pm – 8:30pm. An evening of music, fun, food and a special program
